Shabbang is inspired by Mexican cultures, rock bands, pop-art, the universal language of laughter and the Okanagan’s laid-back, friendly vibe. BANG-UP JOBS
Born in Vernon, BC, Shane comes to the food truck scene with over 20 years of experience working in fine restaurants, distinguished catering outfits, exclusive resorts, and major hotel chains. After opening the award-winning contemporary Mexican restaurant, El Santo, Shane most recently worked as Chef for Cirque du Soleil in Vancouver. His inventive dishes are inspired from his extended travels. Shane’s favorite “partner in crime” is his wife, Kelly.

Kelly, a Vancouver native, grew up a foodie. With experience in a variety of vocations in the food and beverage industry, professional photography, marketing, communications, and event management, Kelly brings with her many talents to the food truck arena. Most recently Kelly worked as Marketing, Communications and Event Manager for the Vancouver-based Ostara Nutrient Recovery Technologies where she headed up marketing, design, and managed key company events. Kelly’s favorite person to work alongside of is her husband, Shane.

THE BIG BANG
After meeting while working together at a remote fishing resort in Haida Gwaii, BC in 2001, Shane and Kelly soon discovered they had the same thirst for exploring food, travel, and music. In 2002 they began travelling the world together for nearly a decade. Their travels took them from India to New Zealand, Mexico to Thailand, and many countries in between, scoping out the vast array of traditional cuisines and the most forward-thinking trends. Before relocating to the Okanagan in 2018, Kelly and Shane were in Vancouver, where the dream of running a food truck began…

Shabbang was born early Summer 2018, bringing the Okanagan hand-made curbside eats. All ingredients are locally sourced, made fresh, change with the season, and are never pre-packaged.
